Big Beach Clean Weekend: 16 – 18 September

It’s that time of the year again and the Big Beach Clean weekend is just around the corner!. This year the Big Beach Clean takes place from the 16th to 18th September.

Big Beach Clean 2016

Sinead McCoy, Coastal Communities Manager with An Taisce is encouraging everyone to take part saying “everyone is welcome to join no matter how big or small the group, everyone can make a difference in protecting Ireland’s beaches, seas and marine life”.

“All you have to do is fill out the form on our website and you’re ready to go”

However Sinead is keen for groups to register soon as possible as the free clean-up packs are only available while stocks last.

She adds “if you have already registered, your clean-up kit will be on it’s way to you shortly”.

“If the dates 16th to18th September don’t work for you, we’d still like you to join us so please feel free to register a clean-up around those dates instead”.

Why not join a Big Beach Clean?

“If you don’t have time to organise your own beach clean, don’t worry as you can join a beach clean-up already registered in an area near you. Just get in touch with the Clean Coasts office and we’ll pass on your details to the group you’d like to join”.

Don’t forget about the data collection

“An important part of the Big Beach Clean is collecting data through a survey about the types of litter which is being found on Irish beaches so that we can tackle big issues like sewage related litter with new initiatives such as the Think Before You Flush campaign. So please don’t forget to send us your data cards (which are included in your packs or downloadable here or fill out the online survey  here.
